Niskayuna Moms' Group

Capital Region, NY

The Niskayuna Moms’ Group strives to connect moms, help build friendships and community, and have fun! Most of the activities for moms, kids, and families are geared toward getting people together in-person.

What We Do

Activities for kids include playdates at the Niskayuna Community Center during the school year. Each playdate includes a snack, craft, and storytime based on a different theme. Meetups are also planned for playgrounds and other local kid-friendly venues year-round.

Other activities provide moms with opportunities for kid-free interaction such as moms’ night out, volunteer opportunities in the community, and book discussions. Families mingle at picnics in the spring and fall.

All members can lead events, though Board members often take the lead in planning.

Who We Are

The group was started more than 30 years ago. Most of the current members live in Schenectady County, though some hail from surrounding parts of New York’s Capital Region. The membership includes a mix of new and veteran moms, full-time stay-at- home moms, and part-time and full-time working moms.

Some moms grew up in the area, whereas some have just moved in recently. The majority of members’ kids are 0-5 years old, though school-age siblings are welcome at activities.

Annual membership dues are $25. The year runs from September to August. Dues are used primarily to subsidize various events. Trial memberships (90 days) are available so you can participate in events and see if it is what you are looking for.
